Facial lipofilling

We know that over the years the face loses volume. Atrophy occurs in some of the fat pads responsible for contours, and others shift. This evolution is perfectly seen by comparing any of our photos from childhood to now. Lipofilling aims to restore the original content of these fat pads, especially in the cheekbone area. But we can also use it to improve the jawline contour or fill the temporal area. On the other hand, the injected adipose tissue improves the quality of the skin, possibly due to its stem cell content (which, in conditions of oxygen deprivation as occurs in the tissue receiving the adipose tissue, turn into capillaries, arteries, and veins).

First Consultation

During the first visit, we will conduct a general health examination and a facial exploration that allows us to assess the aging of your face, your skin quality, and the suitability of the procedure in your case or not. Lipofilling is a technique that allows us to "fill" the volume lost due to aging with the patient's own fat. During this first visit, we will take a series of measurements and photographs that will allow us to plan your surgery.

The surgical technique and postoperative care will be explained to you.

This is the ideal time to ask any questions that may have arisen.

Anesthesia and Surgery

This type of surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. The surgical time depends on the volume to be filled but usually ranges between one and two hours. This procedure does NOT require hospitalization.

In a first step, a serum with certain drugs and anesthetics is injected into the area where the fat will be extracted, which will facilitate a very careful liposuction and at the same time reduce bleeding. Once the fat is extracted, it must be processed, allowing us to obtain "higher quality" fat that includes stem cells, which will be used for your facial filling.

Both the extraction and filling of fat are done through minimal incisions (less than 0.5cm) that will later be closed with a very fine stitch that will be removed in a week. These incisions are always placed in anatomical folds, thus favoring their subsequent invisibility.

Facial lipofilling is a technique that can be used alone for facial filling or associated with other surgical techniques such as blepharoplasty or facelift.
