Breast Asymmetry

Almost all women have one breast larger than the other, without it affecting their body image or relationships. However, a breast asymmetry that is evident as a significant volume difference can be a social or psychological problem. The inequality in shape and size can be due to many causes and manifest in different ways. Several syndromes and diseases are associated with breast asymmetry. In milder cases, the inequality is limited to a small size difference, while in more severe cases, there may be a difference in the osteomuscular structure or two completely different breasts in shape and size. Breast asymmetry can be a social, emotional, and psychological problem for the affected woman, and as a result, correction of the asymmetry through plastic surgery is indicated. Most patients requiring this type of surgery are young women.

The First Consultation

During the first consultation, a general evaluation of your health status will be conducted. At the same time, the size and shape of your breasts will be assessed, taking a series of measurements and photographs that will allow us to plan the surgery.

The most appropriate surgical techniques for your specific case will be explained, and the size and shape your breasts will have, as well as the best options or combination of procedures for you, will be discussed.

You should be as honest as possible and clearly state your expectations.

Surgery and Anesthesia

This surgery is always performed in a hospital setting, with GENERAL ANESTHESIA and a 24-hour admission. The duration of the surgical procedure will depend on the procedures necessary to achieve adequate breast symmetry.

After admission, we will proceed to perform the surgical marking in your own room.

Through the previously made markings, we will carry out the breast symmetry surgery. Depending on the degree of existing asymmetry and the patient's desires, several surgical procedures may be necessary. While one breast may require augmentation with implants, the other breast may require a mastopexy or a breast reduction.

Once operated on, you will be taken to the post-anesthesia recovery room and then to your room.
