The Mastopexy, also known as breast lift, is the procedure used to correct breasts that have sagged after breastfeeding or weight loss, resulting in what is known as breast ptosis. Over time, the force of gravity and the loss of skin elasticity cause the breasts to undergo changes in both function and shape.
The First Consultation
During the first consultation, a general evaluation of your health status will be conducted. Additionally, the size and shape of your breasts will be assessed, taking a series of measurements and photographs that will allow us to plan the surgery.
The most appropriate surgical techniques for your specific case will be explained, the size and shape your breasts will have will be discussed, as well as the best options or combination of procedures for you.
You should be as honest as possible and clearly state your expectations.
Surgery and Anesthesia
This surgery is always performed in a hospital setting, with GENERAL ANESTHESIA and a 24-hour stay. However, due to the diversity of deformation degrees, there are minor cases that can be corrected with local anesthesia supported by sedation provided by the anesthetist, and on an outpatient basis.
After admission, the surgical marking will be done in your own room.
The surgical procedure lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours. Through the previously made markings, we will remove the excess skin, fat, and breast tissue (placing a breast implant if necessary, under the pectoral muscle. This will have been discussed in the consultation) and reposition the nipple-areola complex in its new position, achieving the breast lift.
The incisions for this type of surgery can be placed around the areola, or in addition to this, a vertical and/or horizontal scar in the inframammary fold.
Once the surgery is completed, you will be moved to the post-anesthesia recovery room and then to your room.
